Mahindra Reports 21% Increase in Sales for November
Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a notable 21 per cent year-on-year increase in total wholesales, reaching 70,576 units for the month of November. This uptick in sales reflects the Mumbai-based automaker’s continued momentum in the market, driven by robust demand for its SUV portfolio and sustained growth across various segments.
Strong Performance in Utility Vehicle Segment
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) reported a significant surge in utility vehicle dispatches, with sales reaching 39,981 units last month. This marks a notable 32 per cent increase compared to the year-ago period, highlighting the enduring popularity of Mahindra’s SUV offerings among consumers.
Challenges in Exports
Despite the positive domestic sales performance, M&M faced a decline in exports, which dropped by 42 per cent to 1,816 units in November. This decrease, compared to 3,122 units in November 2022, underscores the challenges and disruptions experienced in the global export market.
Mitigating Supply Chain Challenges
Veejay Nakra, President Automotive Division at M&M, emphasized the company’s commitment to addressing supply chain challenges. While acknowledging the strong demand witnessed during the festive season, Nakra highlighted the need to navigate supply constraints effectively. M&M remains vigilant and proactive in implementing measures to mitigate these challenges and ensure uninterrupted production and delivery to customers.
Growth in Tractor Segment
In addition to its automotive division, Mahindra’s tractor segment also demonstrated positive growth, with wholesales reaching 32,074 units in November. This compares favorably to 30,528 units recorded in the same period last year, indicating sustained demand in the agricultural machinery segment.
Optimism in Rural Markets
Hemant Sikka, President-Farm Equipment Sector at M&M, highlighted the favorable market conditions in rural areas. The festive season, coupled with strong Kharif harvest realizations, contributed to robust demand in the domestic market. Moreover, favorable terms of trade for farmers and increased rural spending by the government further bolstered sentiment in rural communities.
Future Outlook
Looking ahead, Mahindra remains optimistic about the market outlook, particularly in the agricultural sector. Factors such as progress in rabi sowing and continued government support are expected to sustain momentum in the tractor segment.
