Battlegrounds Mobile India Officially Launched with Restrictions for Minors
After months of anticipation, Krafton Inc. has officially announced the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India, the India-exclusive version of the popular battle royale game PUBG Mobile.
What to Expect?
Battlegrounds Mobile India is expected to offer familiar game modes like PUBG Mobile, including battle royale, team deathmatch, and more. Players can also anticipate the return of classic maps such as Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, and Vikendi.
The game will soon be available for pre-registration and will be accessible only within India. Additionally, Krafton has revealed plans for exclusive in-game events, outfits, features, and an esports ecosystem comprising tournaments and leagues.
Restrictions for Minors
Despite concerns over minors overspending and neglecting other responsibilities due to the game, Battlegrounds Mobile India will cater to players below 18 years old. However, specific restrictions have been implemented for minors:
- Minors must provide their parent’s or guardian’s phone number to access the game.
- Gameplay for minors is limited to a maximum of 3 hours per day.
- Spending within the game is capped at ₹7,000 per day.
The verification process for users’ ages remains unclear, raising questions about the effectiveness of these restrictions.
Release Date and Downloads
While the official announcement has been made, details regarding the release date and download links are currently unavailable. Players are eagerly awaiting further updates from Krafton regarding the game’s availability.
PUBG Mobile Ban Timeline
PUBG Mobile faced a ban in India in September last year due to Tencent’s ownership of the game. The ban was part of the Indian government’s decision to restrict several Chinese apps and games amid escalating tensions between the two countries. Krafton Inc., PUBG’s developers, have since revoked Tencent’s license, leading to the development of Battlegrounds Mobile India.
