Facebook’s Messenger App Enhancements for US Users
Facebook has introduced several new features in its Messenger app for users in the United States, including chat themes, a quick reply bar, and expanded payment options.
New Chat Themes and Quick Reply Bar
Users now have access to new chat themes that allow them to personalize their conversations in Messenger and Instagram. According to Sateesh Kumar Srinivasan, Director of Messaging Product at Messenger, these themes enable users to “transform the background of your chat into a delightful and fun way to communicate with friends.”
Additionally, a new quick reply bar has been integrated into the Messenger media viewer, facilitating seamless conversations triggered by engaging photos or videos. Users can respond directly from the media viewer without returning to the main chat thread. To exit the full-screen media viewer, users can simply swipe up and return to the main chat thread.
Enhanced Payment Options
In a significant update, Facebook has expanded payment capabilities for US Messenger users. Now, individuals can send or receive money through Facebook Pay, even if they are not connected as friends on Facebook. This feature enables users to utilize QR codes and payment links to facilitate transactions seamlessly.
According to Facebook, users can share payment links or allow friends to scan their QR codes to send or request money without the need for a separate payment app. This integration streamlines the payment process and enhances convenience for Messenger users in the US.
These updates reflect Facebook’s ongoing efforts to enhance the functionality and user experience of its Messenger app, providing users with more ways to personalize their conversations and simplify financial transactions within the platform.
