Design Concept: Playing with Contrasts

The new Impress clinic in Madrid occupies a prominent corner location on Carranza street, characterized by imposing granite ashlars along the perimeter. Inside, delicate wrought iron columns juxtapose the sturdy ashlars, creating a striking visual dichotomy. This contrast served as the guiding principle for the design process, inspiring a dynamic interplay of curves and lines within the interior space.

Dynamic Curvilinear Design

Drawing inspiration from Impress’s logo, the design incorporates curved elements throughout, optimizing spatial efficiency within the clinic’s compact footprint. Concatenated cylinders define public areas, adapting in size to accommodate varying needs. The negative space towards the lobby benefits from this curvilinear arrangement, creating a visually engaging environment flooded with natural light.

Vibrant Color Palette

The lobby/waiting area, characterized by gray tones, serves as a transitional space between the clinic and the street. Bold red accents highlight the monumental presence of the granite ashlars, while wooden doors tinted in red signal entry points to different rooms. Each room within the clinic reflects Impress’s corporate colors—red, gray, and blue—creating a cohesive yet dynamic interior palette.

Multi-Sensory Experience

Ceiling elements angled at 45 degrees mirror the building’s corner position, enhancing spatial dynamics. Vertical surfaces covered in carpet improve acoustics and comfort, while strategically placed mirrors within treatment rooms create illusions of depth. These design choices aim to redefine the traditional dental clinic experience, catering to Impress’s youthful audience with a fresh and multi-sensory approach.

Brand Communication Through Design

The design narrative aligns with Impress’s brand identity, appealing to a younger demographic and challenging conventional perceptions of dental clinics.
