Exploring Floating Realities: A Poetic Architectural Journey
The Floating Realities Center by BUREAU is not merely a physical space but an exploration of mental and bodily suspension. It invites visitors to experience a state of suspension, where the external world becomes imaginary, evoked only through imagery. This poetic interpretation of the brief aims to create a unique world that fosters rest, imagination, and introspection.
Evocative Design Elements
The design of ORIGIN, the heart of the Floating Realities Center, is a progression towards a suspended state. Colors, materials, and living elements like plants accompany visitors on their journey, culminating in the experience of floating naked in a highly salted water pod. The work of artist Shirana Shahbazi serves as a key inspiration, with its blend of realness and multiple interpretations of space.
Fluid Spatial Sequencing
The progression within the center fluidly guides users from the external world to the intimate experience of the water pod. Various design elements, such as curtains, rails, and surfaces, create a subjective journey, altering perceptual frames and inviting introspection. The use of colors wraps and unfolds the space, offering an insular pause amidst the chaos of the outside world.
Playful Elements and Surrealism
Amidst the abstract journey, whimsical and surreal elements disrupt the purity of the space. Benches reminiscent of early 20th-century urban parks and surrealistic touches like reversed immorality descending from the ceiling add layers of complexity to the experience. These elements, along with forms, colors, and living beings, create an intimate and intriguing ambiance within the center.
The Floating Realities Center transcends traditional notions of architecture, offering visitors a poetic and immersive journey through suspended realities and intimate experiences.
