The Providur’s Palace, situated in Zadar’s historic center, has undergone recent renovation as part of an integrated architectural complex. Together with the Rector’s Palace, it now forms the Two Palaces, a new city institution spanning over ten thousand square meters. This revitalization aims to create a cultural hub within the city while preserving its rich historical heritage.
Historical Significance
For decades, the palace has housed various city institutions and organizations, resulting in a complex spatial layout. The challenge for architects was to transform this labyrinthine structure into a multifunctional space suitable for a museum, concert halls, and a city library. Rather than demolishing the existing spatial structure, the architects preserved its historical integrity while adapting it to modern needs.
